Are there any discounts available for McGill staff members when registering for courses?Yes, McGill staff members are eligible for a 40% discount on our in-person courses, hands-on workshops, and Travel & Learn programs. To claim this discount, please contact us by email at conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca. Please note, however, that this discount does not apply to ACDE Webinars.

Where are the McGill Continuing Dental Education courses held, and what are the parking options?Unless otherwise specified, all courses are held at our Undergraduate Dental Clinic, located at 2001 McGill College Ave., Montreal, QC H3A 1G1, generally on the first floor of the facility. We are conveniently located near the McGill Metro station. For those driving, parking is available in our building with rates of $8.50 for weekends and evenings (after 4 pm) and $24.50 per day on weekdays. The parking entrance is on Victoria Street, at the corner of President Kennedy Avenue.

How are course registrations processed, and how can I secure a spot in a course?All registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and are dependent on space availability. We recommend registering early, especially for limited attendance courses and hands-on workshops. To secure a spot, each participant must complete the online registration. For more information, you can visit our website or contact us by email at conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca. Once your registration is received, you will receive an electronic confirmation via email.

What should I do if I miss the registration deadline for a course?Yes, it might be possible. If you've missed the registration deadline, you can email us at conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca to inquire about available spots. If there is space, we’ll do our best to help you register for the course.

How can I register for courses?To enroll, simply click the “Register Now” button found on the course's webpage and and follow the steps provided. You can find our course's webpage link in the courses section of our website (check our site's menu). A confirmation email will be sent to you to confirm that your registration has been processed successfully.

I cannot find the registration confirmation email. / I am not receiving emails from McGill CDE.If you're unable to locate the registration confirmation email, it was dispatched to the email address you provided during registration. Sometimes, email services may direct our messages to the Spam, Junk, Promotions, or Other folders. We recommend checking these folders for any correspondence from us at conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca.

Is it possible to be added to a waitlist if the course I'm interested in is already full?Yes, it is possible to be added to a waitlist if the course you're interested in is already full. Once the course registration is closed, you can register for the waitlist on the course registration page. Alternatively, you can contact us by email at conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca for further assistance.

What is the cancellation and refund policy for in-person courses and workshops?If you need to cancel your registration, please email us at conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca. Full refunds are available if cancellation is made at least 10 business days prior to the course, unless otherwise indicated in the course’s registration form. For cancellations made less than 10 business days before the course, a $75 fee will be deducted for processing and administrative costs. No refunds are provided for cancellations made 3 business days or less prior to the course. If a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrolment, all tuition fees will be refunded. However, McGill University is not responsible for any additional costs (such as travel or accommodation) incurred due to cancellation or rescheduling of the program.

How will I receive the certificate for the course I attended?Please note that upon completing the course, you will receive an email with a link to the course evaluation. After you submit the online evaluation, we will generate and send you your CE course attestation. You will receive it from the email conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca.

Are McGill Continuing Dental Education courses recognized for continuing education credits, and how are these credits applied?McGill University, Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences is an ADA CERP-recognized provider. Our courses offer continuing education credits in line with the guidelines of the “Ordre des Dentistes du Québec” (ODQ). Participants are responsible for maintaining their own records and submitting course credit information to the appropriate licensure board. After all the courses, the participants will receive a certificate of attendance indicating the credit hours earned.

How are continuing education units (CEUs) calculated for McGill Continuing Dental Education courses?For ODQ member dentists, the continuing education policy grants 1 CE unit for each hour of theoretical training and 2 CE units for each hour of hands-on training. For dental hygienists who are members of the OHDQ and ADA CERP member dentists, continuing education credits are based on the total hours of educational activity, regardless of whether the training is theoretical or practical.

As a dentist trained outside of Canada, am I eligible to enroll in a course?We invite you to participate in any of our Continuing Dental Education programs. You can attend our webinars, mini-residencies, travel & learn courses. The only exception is for hands-on patient care courses.

Am I eligible to work as a forensic dentist in the United States after completing the Forensic Dentistry program?While the Forensic Dentistry program provides both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field, successful completion of all four modules helps you acquire the necessary education, training, and experience to partially meet the eligibility requirements for the American Board of Forensic Odontology. Additionally, all modules offer Continuing Education credits, which can be applied towards certification with the Odontology Section of The American Academy of Forensic Sciences. However, full board certification and eligibility to practice in the U.S. may require meeting additional criteria beyond the course.

Is the workload manageable for someone with a busy schedule, such as a full-time practitioner or parent?The program requires a minimum of 15 hours of coursework per week for modules 1 to 4. Participants need to set aside sufficient time for weekly readings, assignments, and a one-hour Zoom meeting on Monday evenings to discuss assignments with Dr. Dorion. While the schedule is structured, it can be managed with careful time planning. However, you should evaluate whether this commitment fits into your current schedule.

I’m not familiar with Photoshop/Creative Cloud. Is it acceptable to learn it before the course starts?Yes, it’s acceptable. Although a good understanding of Photoshop/Creative Cloud® is expected, if you’re willing to familiarize yourself with the software before the course begins, you should be able to keep up with the program. The course also requires a laptop or tablet, access to specific software (such as Adobe Photoshop or Creative Cloud), a digital camera, and high-speed internet.

I have no experience in forensic dentistry. Is this program suitable for me?Yes, the course is suitable for those without prior forensic dentistry experience. The program is open to participants who have a DDS, DMD, or an equivalent degree and at least five years of clinical experience. You don’t need previous forensic experience, as the course is designed to cater to both beginners and those already familiar with the field.

Can I access course materials through my phone, and is there a specific app for lectures?Yes, you can access the course materials and lectures through a smartphone, provided you have the necessary apps like Zoom. The materials will be available in "MyCourses".

Do I have to take all four modules?The program requires the completion of all four modules in a specific sequence. Upon successfully completing all modules, participants will receive a certificate of completion. The payment is divided into two semesters: the first payment is due by August 1st, covering Modules 1, 2, and 3, while the second payment is due by December 1st for Module 4.

Our program is one of only two training programs recognized by the American Board of Forensic Odontology, which is an important credential in the field. Are the ACDE Webinars recorded for later viewing?No, the ACDE Webinars are not recorded, and we are unable to provide a recording afterward. These live sessions must be attended in real-time to participate.

What happens after I register for an ACDE Webinar, and how do I receive the Zoom link to join the session?After registering for an ACDE Webinar, you will receive a confirmation email from McGill CDE (conted.dentistry@mcgill.ca). This email will include instructions to complete a second-level registration, which is required to receive reminder emails and the Zoom link to join the webinar. Be sure to complete this form before the webinar. If you don't see the confirmation email in your inbox, check your junk or spam folder, and move the message to your inbox to ensure you receive all future communications.
