NDEB - Assessment of Clinical Skills

Course Summary

Pre-registration required. Orientation includes a tour of the
Faculty of Dentistry clinical facility and then time to practice in the clinic.

Course Objectives

• Introduction to the main dental clinic operatory set-up;
• Instruction on the operation of the dental units;
• Verify compatibility of your dental handpieces;
• Review of the infection control procedures used at McGill University;
• Become more confident and comfortable within the clinical setting environment of the NDEB exam.

Clinic portion includes a demonstration of the equipment and an opportunity to prepare a tooth. You will be given the opportunity to try your own handpieces and each candidate will have a practice period of at least 90 minutes. 

Typodonts mounted on the Darwin mannequins used for the ACS exam are supplied by McGill.

Please be aware that there is limited space available for the orientation. Registration is on a first come, first registered basis. Any extra persons will be put onto a waiting list.

You must wear appropriate clinic attire for the orientation sessions. Due to COVID-19 protocols in place, McGill will supply appropriate PPE for participants such as surgical gowns, masks, faceguards etc.

You will not be allowed in the clinical area ahead of time. You will only have access to the clinical facilities at McGill University during the scheduled orientation (Thursday, June 3, 2021) and during the exam.

***Registrants must already be registered for the NDEB Assessment of Clinical Skills exam on the 4th of  December.

Jeffrey Myers, BSc, DDS

Dr. Myers is a former Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs at the McGill Faculty of Dentistry and is currently the course director for the junior and senior clerkship programs at our faculty.

3-hour evening orientation session   |   $549

Includes use of Darwin mannequins with pre-installed typodonts and all PPE required due to COVID-19 infection control protocols.
